Event Information

Hello Tribe,

Difficult circumstances should not stop us from learning new things, right?

We are here with, our first, online workshop which knows no regional boundaries. Anyone can join.

This workshop helps you boost your testing toolkit and also guides you in finding new tools going forward. Great engineers choose a tool based on the type of problem. They have a strong arsenal of multiple tools and attack any problem with the right tool. Software testers are no different. They face multiple scenarios in their testing cycles and they need to keep their toolkit updated with multiple tools - be it open source, paid, browser add-ons, standalone, nifty scripts or a combination of tools.

Section 1: Domain-Independent Data Tools

In this section, we will discuss a few tools that can help us irrespective of the domain you are in. Most of us deal with data every day and this set of tools will help you be efficient when interacting with data. Will you be able to create a 22 MB file or 2.15KB file for example on-demand? How would you resize an image to the exact size? Do you know to find out the differences across huge files in seconds? After this section, you will be aware of multiple tools and playing with data would excite you as you would have the right tools at your fingertips.

Section 2: Quick and Effective Tools

Do you feel that you are one-dimensional in your testing approach and the addition of tools can help you add diversity? In this section, we will focus on shortcuts, nifty scripts, authentic problems solved by tools and finally know a variety of tools.

Section 3: Unleash the power of participants

If we both share an idea, we both will have two ideas. We will brainstorm as a team and build a commonly shared list of tools that all of us can take back home after the workshop.

The tools are spread across the following categories:

Accessibility, Bug Reporting, Collaboration, Communication, Documentation, Modelling, Test Data, Test Reporting, Time Saver and generic tools.

Accessibility: There has been again a boom about Accessibility in the recent news and you can quickly add a couple of tools to help you get started with Accessibility

Bug Reporting: Know the secrets to how Ajay files bugs so quickly and how you too can file bugs quickly.

Collaboration: It is important to be able to work with colleagues across teams and collaboration tools help you do that.

Communication: Effective communication is key to success and these tools will help you communicate effectively.

Documentation: Are you being called back to old projects as there is very little documentation from your side on the project? Learn how to document effectively using a key set of tools.

Modeling: Given any product, how do you quickly model the application to every stakeholder's satisfaction? These then lead to good test ideas and bugs!

Test data: Garbage in, garbage out. The quality of your test data affects your testing a lot. Will you be able to get the test data on-demand irrespective of the domain or type of data? Won't you love to test with effective test data every time?

Test Reporting: Good testers know to report well and take pride in good test reports. How are your test reports? Know some tools to help you with test reporting.

Time Saver: Testers get called by multiple stakeholders for a variety of tasks. Testers are one of the few people who constantly switch contexts, sometimes across projects. Won't you love to save time and use it effectively for the tasks? Learn some time-saving tools here.
