• We are offering these to the first 20 people who donate. If we find we can turn these out fast enough, we may take on more.
• We will ask for a photograph of you (or the person you want to gift this to), which we may or may not actually use as a reference, but will light a candle in front of.
• We will ask a few questions about the subject of the poem. For instance, name, place of origin or residence, job or hobby, quirk or habit, catchphrase. Or perhaps it could be a situation.
• You will need to tell us the censor certificate level you want: child-friendly, parental guidance recommended, suitable for grown-ups.
• The size of the final artwork will be A4, in landscape format, the poem on one half, the illustration on the other. It will come to you in a high-resolution digital file which you can get printed (we recommend archival paper) and framed. Here is what it will look like: [Link to sample]
• The poems will be in a popular short poetic form — quatrain, limerick, clerihew, double dactyl (if you have a six-syllable name), haiku or senryu, mini ghazal — but at our discretion.
• The illustrations may be caricatures, but may instead depict the scene the poem describes, again at our discretion.
About the Offerer:
Rajiv Eipe makes picture books, comics and short animation films. He has been known to maintain an untidy desk, doodle in sketchbooks, drink too much coffee, and stare into vacant space when confronted with difficult deadlines.
Peter Griffin has been a salesperson, copywriter, journalist, voice-over artist, communications consultant, and briefly (and for very little pay), radio host. Among his unmonetisable skills are community building and the ability to make up silly rhymes. Being unemployed, this is the only way he can afford Rajiv’s art.
