India Backyard Ultra is back for its fourth edition and registrations are officially open for 2023.
The concept is simple. Like the previous editions, it’s a “Last Human Standing" race, where just one runner finishes the race. All other runners are DNFs (Did Not Finish).
Lazarus Lake (officially Gary Cantrell), the race director of the infamous Barkley Marathons, organises another race "Big Dog's Backyard Ultra" in his backyard in Bell Buckle, Tennessee, the USA. Highly exclusive race with only 75 entrants allowed, Big's Backyard is a World Championship of Last Man Standing races organized across the world. India Backyard Ultra is a "Silver Ticket" event among others shortlisted by Laz. The Silver Ticket winners will constitute a "Team India" that will compete at Big's Backyard Ultra World Team Championship in October 2024 (a satellite championship just like the one we witnessed in October 2022).
India Backyard Ultra is the only national championship and will host Team India in October 2024. The Last Indian Standing in October 2024 will win the "Golden Ticket" and represent India at Big's Backyard Ultra World Championship in October 2025 in Tennessee, the USA.
