The Inclusivity in Indian Languages Festival
A Festival Celebrating Indian Language Literature by Belongg and Indian Novels Collective
Date: Saturday, January 23, 2021, 10AM IST
Literature wanders across locations and spaces which are often suppressed in life. The alchemical power of story telling is evident in characters and their experiences of marginalization, of mental health, same-sex love or physical disability. This heals and empowers us for the cathartic journey of beauty and surprise in life and literature. To celebrate and talk about Inclusivity in Indian Novels, we bring together a week-long festival of Inclusivity & Indian languages where we hope to have conversations, uninhibited and unbiased, on the diversity of desires, emotions and human beings.
We will be discussing publishing marginalised voices, northeast India, disability, queerness, and mental health in Indian languages.
Please stay tuned for panel announcements. Some of our panelists include Shanta Gokhale, Urvashi Butalia, Bnim, Ruth Vanita, Trisha Niyogi, Soni, and Zeenab.
Who are we?
Belongg is a social venture that works at bringing discrimination-free services and spaces for people who face bias due to their identity. We run an inclusive housing program, a Literature Collective focused on inclusive and diverse literature, a Mental Health initiative focused on people prone to facing prejudice and bias, a Research Collective which brings together researchers working on these themes, and a Circle that curates people & experts from different identities working across sectors to build diverse representation.
