The 8th Edition of the IIT Bombay Half Marathon returns with this year’s powerful theme, Stride for Sustainability, inviting every runner to take a step towards a greener, healthier future — on the course and beyond.

Set across the breathtaking 550-acre IIT Bombay campus in Powai, IITBHM 2026 brings together elite runners, first-time participants, students, fitness enthusiasts, and IIT alumni from across India for one of the country’s most unique and exclusive running experiences.

With 8 years of legacy, over 35,000 runners having crossed our start line, and the prestige of IIT Bombay behind us, IITBHM 2026 gives you the rare opportunity to run through a campus that few ever get to experience this way.

Race Categories:

1. 5 Km : Save the drop

Introducing the IIT Alumni Connect Run: 23 IITs. One Run. One Legacy.

For the first time, IITBHM 2026 brings alumni from all 23 IITs together through the IIT Alumni Connect Run — a special category created to celebrate the shared legacy, camaraderie, and spirit of the IIT community.

Whether you graduated recently or decades ago, this is your opportunity to return to campus, reconnect with fellow IITians, relive old memories, and be part of one common run that brings the entire IIT alumni community together.

Who Can Participate in the IIT Alumni Connect Category? - Any alumnus or alumna of any of the 23 IITs is eligible to register and participate (for the first time we are creating a curated experience for the IIT Alumni community in the 8th edition of the IIT Bombay Half Marathon)

The following things will only be given to the Alumni's registering in the IIT Alumni Connect Run Category: 

1. Customised Collar T-shirt (GSM 160+)

2. IIT Alumni Cap (HM Branded)

3. IIT Alumni Bottle/sipper (HM branded)

4. There will be a separate leaderboard for the IIT Alumni Connect Run Category in each of the 5k, 10k and 21.1k category. Also, medals and trophies will be provided to each of the category of IIT Alumni Connect run separately.

IIT Bombay Half Marathon 2026 is organized by Fitizen India Sports Events in association with Aavhan, IIT Bombay Sports Team.

AGE CATEGORIES & TROPHIES FOR OPEN

On Race day prizes(only trophies) are in open category for both Male & Female will be announced. Age category winners will be declared after a week.

Special prizes for boys & girls 8 years and above

For IIT Alumni Connect: Top 3 prizes in open category both in Male & Female

Cut-off Times: 5 km – 60 mins | 10 km – 100 mins | 21.1 km – 200 mins

Participants Deliverables: Race T-shirt, finisher medal, certificate, post-race breakfast,

OFFICIAL RECOGNITION

• Affiliated with the Mumbai Suburban District Athletics Association

• Qualifier for major national running events

• Chip-timed on mat-to-mat basis; results published online

• Digital finisher certificates for all runners who complete within cut-off time

RULES & REGULATIONS

• Minimum age: 5 km – 8 years | 10 km – 14 years | 21.1 km – 18 years (as of race day)

• Race timing recorded on mat-to-mat basis. Chip must be worn on race day.

• Government-issued photo ID mandatory for bib collection and age verification.

• IIT Bombay student/alumni discount applicable with valid ID — check website for details.

• Bibs are non-transferable. No cancellations or refunds after registration.

• Participants must collect bibs in person or via authorized representative with a written consent letter.

• Participants must follow all race instructions and course marshals at all times.

 STANDARD TERMS & CONDITIONS

• Participation is entirely at your own risk. Ensure you are medically fit to run.

• Organisers are not responsible for injuries, loss of belongings, or parking.

• In case of adverse weather, force majeure, or safety concerns, the event may be postponed or cancelled without refunds.

• Registrations are non-refundable and non-transferable under all circumstances.

• The organiser reserves the right to modify event details, rules, or categories at any time.

• Photography and videography rights of all media captured at the event belong to the organisers; materials may be used for promotional purposes without compensation.

• Minors must be registered by a parent or legal guardian who accepts all terms on their behalf.

• Participants must maintain respectful conduct toward fellow runners, volunteers, and event staff.

• The organiser reserves the right to disqualify any participant found in violation of race rules.
