Improv is a theatrical art form where the performance is completely improvised/ unscripted. The principles that Improv is practiced not only make one a thorough performer in any domain but also closely apply to everyday life.
This 6 hour workshop will be divided into two 3 hour sessions followed by a short student showcase. Altogether, in a nutshell, through a lot of improv activities we will cover:
• Personal Freedom
• Non-Judgemental acceptance
• Storytelling
• Creativity beyond self-critiquing
• Listening awareness
• Storytelling
• A lot of fun games
• Stage presence
• Spontaneity
In the first session, we will learn to acknowledge our fears that keep us from expressing to the fullest and start marching towards freedom from that fear. We will also practice what it is like to make another person look good by accepting their ideas and building upon it. Through this, we will also touch upon the importance of listening - that is listening in order to understand rather than to reply.
In the second session, we will focus on storytelling and why it is the backbone of Improv. We will also work on truly understanding improvisation through the lens of how each unplanned moment can look and feel like it was meant to be.
The performance will be a short showcase, where each participant will get the opportunity to test out their Improv skills in a series of Improv stage games.
