The city of Calcutta (now Kolkata) was once nothing more than a collection of river-side hamlets along the sacred Hooghly. Throughout its history, the river played a crucial role in the rise and growth of Calcutta. Although the city has now grown tremendously in size and infrastructure, its connection with the river still thrives.
On this breakfast cruise in collaboration with Vivada, you will discover the city from the river: learn about its historic ghats that form the closest link between the city and the river, learn about the industrial, twin-city of Howrah and marvel at some spectacular examples of infrastructure like the Howrah Bridge and Howrah Station.
The cruise includes a short heritage walk along the strand of the old Vaishnavite cult-centre and the erstwhile Dutch colony of Baranagar, which also has a deep connection with the Freedom Movement.
The cruise includes a full, buffet breakfast.
