The Coastwise Marine Festival 2020 brings you an evening of inspiration and learning.
While the photography awards will be announced, celebrating the intertidal, our oceans and our animals, we're also bringing you speakers who work in this realm, and take us on their journeys of interacting with the marine kingdom.
Tasneem Khan, a biologist, educator, photographer, diver and sailor – presently working on setting up the “Vessel for Inquiry” in the eastern Andaman Sea talks about her interactions with water, navigating oceans, filming large animals like whales, mantas to the smallest organisms, like plankton. Her insights into the underwater world bring the unaccessible civilisation closer to us.
Rohan Chakravarty, an award winning cartoonist and author, spends most of his time away from humans, in the presence of wildlife. Not a scientist himself, his cartoons are full of behavioural data and conservation issues - told in an illustrated manner that is easy to understand. His work is full of irony, satire and uncomfortable truths. He talks about drawing marine life, and using laughter as a tool for conservation. His dislike for water is going to make this gold.
