See the Port-City of Calcutta , once the second most busy port in the British empire, from where its founders first saw it - the River .  Find out where the Port's old Koilaghat (Qillaghat) Jetties were, sail past the first Lock gate, drive through what was once Asia's largest Marine workshop, relive the experiences of the immigrant who sailed to distant lands from this Port in search of good times, observe the 1899 built Clock Tower still keeping time and so much more ................

In a unique initiative, the Kolkata Port Trust has sought to revive memories of a glorious past by taking the curious tourist up and down the alleys of yore through a Heritage Tour both by land and water. The weekend trip for the general tourist begins at 4 PM during Summer and 12 noon during winter . Timings mat vary depending on river ebb and tide.  Tourists assemble at the Port's unique Heritage Centre cum Maritime Museum at the early 20th Century-built Fairlie Warehouse on Strand Road. You shall then be transported to the Port's historic Man o' War Jetty by an AC bus for a guided tour by water on a Port Steamer , with refreshments et al.  Priced at Rs 1399 each ( Foreigners Rs 2499 or equivalent in $)  the tour can be booked directly with townscript.com or with the Port (15 Strand Road) through Cheques or Drafts.  For enquiries kolkataportheritage@gmail.com
