We are glad to announce that IIA India is hosting a webinar on the subject of “Critical Thinking in the Audit Process” on 20th March, 2021.

 In The IIA’s Global Internal Audit Competency Framework, critical thinking is one of the key required personal skills identified — and most organizations consider it an indispensable skill for their internal auditors. Critical thinking leads to improved decision-making and can result in better organizational performance. In this course, we will examine the various facets and components of this important core competency.

Effective critical thinking involves collecting and analyzing information, drawing compelling conclusions, and providing recommendations. It helps not only drive personal success but also better enables companies to achieve their strategic objectives. Critical thinking is often the central ingredient necessary for providing insights that help management better manage risk and create a sustainable control environment.

This course demonstrates how critical thinking can be weaved throughout key elements of the audit process such as risk assessments, interviewing, testing and analysis, process documentation, and reporting. Critical thinking is disciplined thinking that is clear, rational, open-minded, and informed by evidence, which makes it ideally suited for application in an audit setting. The critical thinking concepts and practices presented are designed to enhance audit effectiveness and deliver measurable value to audit customers that win internal audit a seat at the table for key business decisions.

Mr. Wadhawan's last held operational position was CEO of The Institute of Internal Auditors - India (IIA India) and during his tenure of 4 years set up result oriented innovative programs & initiatives. He is a former Senior Advisor, KPMG India. By qualification, Deepak is a CA, CIA, CPA and is a subject matter person in internal audit and risk assurance. Currently he is Member, on an International Committee of IIA Global & Jury Chair, 2020 National Awards for Excellence in Internal Audit, IIA India. He leverages over three decades of internal audit and related experience and has worked in different set ups as large professional firms, independent practice and setting up the internal audit department in corporates.

Mr. Sharma has around 19+ years of experience across IT/Digital Transformation/ Manufacturing/Banking/Insurance industries in various functional domains of internal audits, risk management, compliance & process improvement. He is currently working with a US MNC listed on the NASDAQ, USA as their Vice President – Corporate Audit, where he leads the Internal audit activities globally for all service delivery areas. He also leads fraud investigations for the company globally. From an education perspective, he is an Electronics Engineer (a rarity in this profession!!), a Certified Internal Auditor (CIA), Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE), Certification in Risk Management Assurance (CRMA), Certified Six Sigma Master Black Belt (CSSMBB) and a Certified Lead auditor for ISO27001:2013 (Information Security Management System), ISO22301:2015 (Business Continuity Management System) & ISO9001:2015 (Quality Management System). He is also a BOG member of the IIA Delhi chapter since 2019 and is currently the Training committee chair for the IIA Delhi Chapter.
