About the Artist:

I am Aakash Ramesh (@aakash.drawing.book), a self-taught graphite pencil artist. Completed my under graduation and worked as a Security Analyst for almost three years in Chennai, India. I moved to Charlotte, USA to do my Masters Degree few years back. I now, work in a MNC in USA. I got into this portrait sketching during my under graduate college days.

Materials Required:

1. Pencils (HB, 2B, 4B) other variants optional - Any Brand
   
2. Blending tools (Earbuds or Paper stumps or Tissue paper)
   
3. General eraser
4. Kneaded eraser
5. Sketching sheet (Please avoid copier/xerox paper)
6. Ruler/Scale
   

Session 1 - Basics of Graphite Portraits (2.5 hours)

• Choosing and analysis of reference image
• Reference editing and framing
• Tools and materials
• Lights and shadows
• Gridding techniques
• Mapping the reference
  

• Basic Anatomy
• Shading techniques for eyes, eye lids, Iris and pupil
• Sketching Eye lashes
• Sketching Eyebrows
• Discuss different angles and perspectives from various references

• Basic Anatomy
• Shading techniques for nose
• Shading techniques for ears
• Discuss different angles and perspectives
  

Session 4: Lips and Teeth (2.5 hours)

• Mapping outline of lips
• Shading
• Texture of lips
• Mapping outline and shading of teeth
• Discussing different angles and perspectives

Session 5: Skin tone and Skin texture (2.5 hours)

• Analysing the skin
• Creating skin tone
• Adding skin texture
• Adding Skin pores
• Adding Blemishes
• Adding Moles
• Adding Freckles
• Adding Wrinkles
  

Session 6: Hair (2.5 hours)

• Analysing the hair style of the reference
• Mapping the outline
• Reflections and highlights
• Sketching different hairstyles
• Light and dark hair
• Facial hair (Beard)
  
• Facial hair (Moustache)
  

This workshop is conduced via ZOOM app. This will be an interactive workshop for limited audience. We will send you the ZOOM link for you to join the workshop on the day of the event.
